TRAPSEAT
GUIDELINES

| 1.

FORMAT
A
Hobie Cat 16 with trapseats shall be sailed by a helmsperson and
crew. Crew shall number one except where races organizers rules that crew
in all craft number more than one.

HELMSPERSON
|
| 2.1
|
Helmsperson
must be disabled i.e. shall be classified according to the version of the
IFDS Functional Classification System current at the time of the
championships.

|
The
Helmsperson may be able-bodied or disabled.
|
|
3.
|
CREW
The
crew may be able-bodied (AB) or disabled.
|
|
4.
|
NUMBER
OF TRAPSEATS
There
shall be two Trapseats attached to each cat.
|
|
5.
|
HIKING
The
crew ONLY may hike from any position.
|
|
6.
|
POSITION
WHEN RACING
When
racing, no part of the torso of the helmsperson shall pass the centerline
of the boat.
|
|
7.
|
CAPSIZE
Rule
6 shall not apply in the event of a capsize.
|
|
8.
|
NOMINATION
OF STEERING SIDE
Before
a race the helmsperson shall nominate which side of the boat from which
he/she will steer the boat.

9.
|
DISQUALIFICATION
No
competitor will be disqualified due to assistance in the event of a
capsize or other emergency deemed such by the race organizers.

|
10.
|
WIND
SPEED
Races
will take place in 15 Knots, not exceeding 20 Knots
.

|
11.
|
PROTECTED
Official
Trapseat races will take place in protected waters.
|
|
12.
|
RULES
All
Hobie 16 class rules apply except where Trapseat rules override.
